The Lucie Foundation offers a variety of programs to support our three-tiered mission:
Honor master photographers
Discover & cultivate emerging talent
promote the appreciation of Photography worldwide
The Lucie Awards
The Lucie Awards is the annual gala ceremony honoring the greatest achievements in photography. The photography community from countries around the globe will pay tribute to the most outstanding photography achievements presented at the Gala Awards ceremony. Each year, the Advisory Board nominates deserving individuals across a variety of categories who will be honored during the Lucie Awards ceremony. Once the nominations have been received, the votes are tallied and an honoree in each category is identified. The honorees are pre-announced months before the Lucie Awards. The Lucies also recognize those integral in crafting an image through Six Support Category Awards. Our sister effort - The International Photography Awards also presents the top three winners of the annual competition with cash prizes and Lucies. 2010 marks the eight year of the Lucies and the gala takes place at the world's leading performing arts center, Lincoln Center, New York. The Lucie Lecture Series
The East and West Coast Lucie Lecture Series features world-renowned, master photographers who have received or will receive Lucie Awards during the annual gala ceremony. The West Coast Lucie Lecture Series will take place during the Month of Photography Los Angeles and the East Coast Lecture Series takes place the days leading up to the Annual Lucie Awards Ceremony.
The Lucie Mentor Program - Epprentice, an online apprenticeship.
The Lucie Mentor Program will match vital and current professional photographers with students and emerging talent who will become Photographys' next round of brightest stars. E-pprentice 2010 is currently closed and will begin accepting applications in October. To see the 2010 Class of E-pprentice Mentors and Mentees, click here.
The Lucie Scholarship Program
Photographers make images. Visionaries teach you how to see. The Lucie Foundation is proud to support emerging talent and professionals with vision, with dynamic ideas that challenge and progress the art form of still photography into work that compels. Through the Lucie Scholarship, a grant of $5,000 will be awarded to a professional photographer at work on a specific, dynamic project, as well as a grant of $2,500 to an emerging professional (student, graduate, or beginning professional) working on a portfolio or a proposed project. Our support of photography is broad, from photojournalism to fashion photography, digital to medium format, including every other category and subcategory. Our concern isn’t with genre, but rather to support emerging visionaries producing work that is at once gripping, and original. We invite you to challenge what we see. Winners will also receive a scholarship to attend a one-week course at Maine Media Workshops. Submissions are open from October through January 31.

This unique opportunity allows Lucie members and the general public the opportunity to fine-tune their portfolios and receive critical feedback to their work. SNAPSHOP! SnapShop! aims to cultivate the photographic minds of the future and for youth to acquire skills that might not be available to them at their home schools and communities. Snapshop! pairs high school students with established photographers who will impart practical, technical and aesthetic knowledge of crafting a photographic image. Typically, SNAPSHOP! occurs during The Month of Photography Los Angeles but we are currently in development to expand the program from one day event to a five day event that culminates in the work of the students being exhibited and printed. If you are interested in learning more about this program, please email Ronnie Clark at rclark@luciefoundation.org. To see Snapshop! 2009, please click here.
